Bringing Your Own Apparel or Merchandise for Printing, Embroidery and Other Branding Solutions - Australia-wide Service

In some cases, the right garment or product is something you already have. For this reason, Mabuzi offers bring your own (BYO) apparel and merchandise printing, embroidery and other decoration services, subject to the conditions outlined below.

While BYO decoration always carries some risk, our role is to help you achieve the best possible outcome through clear advice, careful checking and thorough artwork proofing.

Considering BYO Apparel or Merchandise Printing? Check With Us First
Before arranging to supply your own garments or merchandise for printing or embroidery, we recommend checking with us first.

In many cases, we may be able to source the same or a comparable item through our network of trusted Australian and international manufacturers. This can help reduce risk, streamline the process, ensure the product is well suited to the intended decoration method and usually offers you a saving by combining the product procurement and decoration in one place.

If BYO merchandise is still the best option for your project, we’re happy to review the item and advise on suitability before production.

Approval of BYO Apparel & Client-Supplied Items
All BYO apparel and client-supplied items must be reviewed and approved by Mabuzi before production.

This allows us to confirm that the item is suitable for the chosen printing or embroidery method, artwork and placement.

Approval is based on factors such as fabric type, garment construction, colour and overall condition.

If an item isn’t suitable or presents an elevated production risk, we’ll let you know upfront and may recommend an alternative.

Lead times for BYO orders commence once goods are received by Mabuzi, checked and approved for suitability, and the order is confirmed, usually by way of payment.

Artwork Proofing for BYO Printing & Embroidery
Before anything goes to print:
- artwork and placement are reviewed
- a final artwork proof is supplied for approval
- production only proceeds once you’ve signed off

This process is critical and significantly reduces the likelihood of errors when printing on client-supplied garments.

Please see our artwork specifications page for more information.

Preparing Client-Supplied Apparel and Merchandise for Printing
If your BYO apparel or merchandise order includes more than one design or layout, all supplied items must be:
- clearly labelled with the correct design or layout
- grouped or packed to prevent mix-ups during production

Clear preparation helps ensure your BYO printing order runs smoothly and accurately.

If client-supplied garments or products are delivered in individual polybags, retail packaging, or with more complex packaging requirements, additional handling may be required. Any additional charges will be discussed and quoted in advance, where applicable.

Items Supplied via Third-Party Wholesalers
If your BYO apparel is being sent directly to us from another supplier or wholesaler, please note:

- Mabuzi does not check that delivered stock matches your external purchase order
- we do not verify quantities, sizes or colours supplied by third parties
- responsibility for stock accuracy remains with the client and the supplying wholesaler

We recommend confirming all details with your supplier before items are dispatched for printing or embroidery.

BYO Apparel Printing & Client Responsibility
Decorating client-supplied apparel involves an inherent level of risk.

While issues or errors are extremely rare, BYO garments are supplied at the client’s risk, and by proceeding you acknowledge that:
- Mabuzi does not accept responsibility for faults or damage to client-supplied items
- BYO apparel is not eligible for replacement if damaged or misprinted during decoration
- variations may occur due to the nature or condition of the supplied garment

If Something Goes Wrong with BYO Printing or Decoration
If an issue does occur, we will:
- review the situation promptly
- communicate openly
- work with you in good faith to determine a reasonable outcome where possible

However, Mabuzi reserves the right to not replace or reimburse client-supplied garments in the event of fault, damage or production error.

Our Approach to BYO Apparel and Merchandise Printing & Decoration
Although BYO apparel printing is completed at the client’s risk, we take pride in being careful, thorough and upfront. This includes:
- assessing garment suitability before production
- confirming artwork and placement
- using proven printing and embroidery methods
- maintaining clear communication throughout your order

If you’re unsure whether bring your own decoration is right for your project, we’re always happy to help you weigh up the best approach.

In Summary: BYO Apparel Printing at Mabuzi
We can decorate client-supplied apparel and products, subject to approval. BYO items are supplied at the client’s risk, require artwork sign-off, and may incur additional handling charges. We recommend checking with us first, as we may be able to source a suitable alternative.
